This picturesque valley was named after the Rečica stream. In the past, mining left its mark on the valley. At the beginning of the 19th century, a mine pit was opened featuring high quality brown coal. To commemorate the heritage and the life of miners in the Rečica valley, a mine pit museum near the fire station in Huda jama is open to visitors.

The mine was closed in the 90s. In Zgornja Rečica, you can visit the Church of Beatified Anton Martin Slomšek, designed by architect Janez Valentinčič, assistant to the world famous Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik, and the MaleŠ Gallery.

In addition, the valley is ideal for hiking and cycling trips to the nearby hills of Šmohor, Mrzlica, Kal, Govško brdo and Baba. The Rečica loop mountain trail circles the Rečica valley.

Information on the visit to the Rečica Mine Pit Museum, the Church of Beatified Anton Martin Slomšek and the Maleš Gallery and numerous possibilities or cycling and hiking trips is available at the Laško Tourist Information Centre (TIC Laško).
