In the village of Senožete near Rimske Toplice, you will find the house where Slovenia's greatest ballad and romance poet Anton Aškerc was born. The house has been converted into a museum, preserving its characteristic architecture. Inside, you will find a black kitchen as well as a vast literary and ethnological collection about the poet. Next to the house stand a wooden, thatch-roofed granary and a “toplar”, the traditional Slovenian hayrack.
