The permanent Laško – A Trip through Time exhibition presents the town’s historical development from prehistoric times up until the present day, the Brewery Industry and Spa Tourism exhibition explores the long-lasting brewing and thermal spa traditions in Laško and Rimske Toplice. Finally, the Geology of the Laško Area exhibition focusses on the rich natural heritage, explains the historic economic development and inspires further countryside visits. The occasional thematic, painting and photographic exhibitions enrich the town’s cultural life.
The museum was founded in 1907. Its original collection included Roman tombstones, fine ceramics from Roman and pre-Roman area and collections of decorative watches, pottery and antique furniture. With time, the museum became the principal guardian of local cultural and natural heritage.
The museum visit is included in various guided tour programmes and is also open to individual visitors.
