Hiking for the occasional and avid mountaineers
Laško does not have mountains, but it does have one of the most beautiful hiking trails in Slovenia! The Rečica loop mountain trail was declared one of the BEST mountain trails of 2019, for it connects 10 peaks and 3 mountain huts. In Laško, hikers can choose between 16 trails that lead to beautiful vantage points, from Šmohor (781 m), Kopitnik (910 m) and Veliko Kozje (993 m), to the wind harp at the top of Hum hill and to various local attractions surrounding the unique Orion trail, known for its megalithic shrines, as well as trails passing several churches and linden trees. Furthermore, thematic and educational trails will surprise you with numerous stories. Don’t miss the fantastic group hikes!
Cycling for tourists and sports enthusiasts
Everyone can easily reach the more challenging destinations, for you can now rent an electric bike in Laško or Rimske Toplice. You can cycle from Laško, along the Savinja River and all the way to Celje. The more experienced trekking and mountain bikers, who like to be challenged, can overcome the 49-kilometer Laško circuit or a similarly demanding route to Lisca. Among the breezy excursions and sweaty tours, there is a plethora of opportunities for every single cyclist. You will definitely be able to find beautiful routes that are more than suitable for family cycling.
Adrenaline for the experienced
There are four take-off points and suitable landing sites for paragliders near Laško. Those who fly from Malič (take-off point at 878 m), usually land on a meadow near Thermana Laško. Paragliders launching into the air from one of the two take-off points at Kopitnik (take-off points at 866 m and 868 m), often glide above Rimske Toplice. These take-offs are classified as easy in terms of difficulty. Nearby is also Lisca (take-off point at 915 m), where they organize paragliding competitions.
Special activities found in hidden corners of Laško
In summer, fishermen enjoy fly-fishing on the mysterious Gračnica River. They also love to fish alongside the Marof fishing pond, where you can find a large number of cyprinids and predators. Moreover, the Savinja river attracts fishermen all year round. The Brijer Equestrian Association also offers sightseeing tours, where you get to explore and learn straight from the saddle.
Spa resort recreation
Anyone visiting Laško will most definitely seize their day by enjoying the thermal pools of Thermana Laško and Rimske Terme. The spa park with a circular trail alongside the Savinja river and an outdoor fitness area also encourages you to move. Moreover, Laško has several tennis courts that you should definitely check out. Rimske Toplice have a great outdoor fitness area and a gorgeous spa park, full of sequoia trees that are near the Rimske Terme. Do not miss the Holy Trinity Energy Park, which you can reach from Jurklošter in the Gračnica valley.
