Soon after the healing thermal water springs were discovered, the town of Rimske Toplice became a cosmopolitan spa resort, where high class members of the European society gathered. As it was usual for that time, the prominent guests often planted an exotic tree in the spa park, surrounding the spa complex, to remind us about their visit to Rimske Toplice. The guests of the spa, which has been restored to its former glory, can still admire giant old trees, which originate from all over the world. You can find there giant tulip trees, the Spanish, Caucasian and white fir, butternut, black walnut, yews, cypresses and the eastern hemlock.

The most eye-catching for the visitors are definitely the giant sequoias in the forest clearing or in the meadow. They were planted back in 1879 in honour of the Princess Royal and Queen of Prussia, Victoria. The trees were sent from the London botanic Kew Gardens. In 1993, the spa park was declared a monument of designed nature.
