The hill of Šmohor invites all hiking enthusiasts. At an altitude of 784 metres, it is perfect for an afternoon hike or for a day trip. The trail crosses blossoming meadows and leads through narrow paths in at times dark woods to the mountain hut. At every step, the hikers will be amazed by the beauty and generosity of the nature. You will be astonished and impressed by the mighty trees and magnificent views of the surrounding landscape.
A real treat awaits the visitors at the top of Šmohor. It is just a short distance from the Šmohor mountain hut to the Church of St Hermagoras, built in the 15th century. By the church, there proudly stand three mighty linden trees, which symbolise the Holy Trinity and the friendship between the people. The locals call them “Turkish” linden trees because they were planted when the Ottomann army crossed this area on their horses on their way to Vienna.
The trunks and crowns reveal numerous stories. You can climb inside the hollow tree and feel the past.
