Above the town of Laško rises a hill. Even from the bottom it looks special. Not only for its shape but because it is densely covered with trees. It actually looks like being turned upside down. On its lower slopes, it is covered with conifers, and all the way to the peak, deciduous trees grow. However, this is not its only feature. It is just a result of numerous fires, which destroyed primary vegetation in the past, and the hill was then afforested with trees that are not typical for this area. Hum vegetation is special because of various protected flowers, such as auricula, gentian, black hellebore, wood pink, Carniolan lily, smoke tree, Jovibarba hirta and shrubby milkwort. On the steep rocky slopes grows the garland flower, known to the locals as the Hum rosemary. The buttercup is endemic to this area and grows only in the Zasavje hills. Because of its venomous properties, the flowers were sent to young German-serving soldiers. In touch with the plant, it caused blistered rashes on the legs and therefore the soldiers could take a rest for a few days.
